Abstract. In the context of turbulent economic development in the global community, assessing the quality and standard of living of the population in particular countries and regions is a pressing issue. The United States remains the world’s largest economy, influencing international economic relations and global economic growth. Despite its enormous economic potential, the country is susceptible to financial crises and faces certain socioeconomic challenges resulting from unstable growth in the standard of living of the population and the level of human development. This paper analyzes consumer spending as an indicator of the standard of living in the states of the Far West of the USA. To assess the dynamics of changes in the quality of life of citizens, this indicator was examined for 2000–2024, broken down by type of consumer spending. The results of the study revealed an increase in the quality and standard of living both in the analyzed regions and in the country as a whole. In these states, the rate of growth in the standard of living of the population is somewhat higher than the national average; however, this growth rate varies across the analyzed states due to different economic, geographic, climatic, and other conditions. The results of the study can be used as empirical data for more in-depth methodological work.
