Abstract. This article analyzes the structural transformation of Russian retail in 2023–2025 under the influence of accelerated growth in marketplaces. The study aims to quantify the contribution of various traditional retail segments to growth in marketplaces in 2023–2025 and to identify the consequences of this redistribution for market structure and employment. A set of hypotheses forms the analytical basis for the empirical part of the analysis, which will test the consistency of theoretically expected effects with the specifics of the Russian retail market in 2023–2025 and assess the sustainability of the identified trends in the medium term. Based on official statistics, industry reviews, and the financial statements of major companies, the growth of e-commerce is decomposed into organic growth and the shift in demand from offline. The empirical dynamics for 2023–2025 confirm the scale of the structural shift. It has been shown that up to 60 percent of the online segment’s growth is driven by the redistribution of traditional retail turnover, with small-scale and unorganized offline retail serving as the key contributor. An analysis of online format dynamics and corporate reporting confirms the dominance of marketplaces in terms of growth rates. An employment assessment demonstrates no increase in unemployment and a redistribution of labor to the broader e-commerce landscape. The results allow us to quantify the mechanism of platform market restructuring and clarify its socioeconomic consequences.

Key words: marketplaces, retail, shift in demand, structural transformation, e-commerce.
