Abstract. The article proposes an assessment of the impact of criminalization of the economy on the systemic processes that ensure its development. The economic nature and reasons for criminalization of the economy are considered in accordance with the views of leading scientists, the interpretation of the theory of criminalization of the economy in terms of its influence on the disclosure of the potential of its economic development is carried out. The framework economic problems arising in response to the criminalization of the economy are identified, and the specifics of the manifestation of these problems in Russian realities are considered. The article assesses the scale of criminalization of economy in Russia in comparison with foreign economies and the resulting assessment of the impact of criminalization of domestic economy on parameters that are important from the standpoint of the global economy, as economic security, competitiveness of national producers and investment attractiveness of the economy in the global market is proposed. The most typical challenges for the Russian economy, associated with criminalization, have been identified. Significant differentiation of the problem under consideration on a regional basis has been proved. Statistical data for a homogeneous in terms of the degree of development region of the economic system were collected and analyzed, the dynamic impact of excesses of criminal nature on its economic development was determined. Based on the results of this work, proposals to intensify economic development by countering the systemic criminalization of the economy at the level of counteracting the factors that generate it were developed.
