annotation: An attempt of understanding of the economic potential of Azerbaijan for the development of effective forms of integration cooperation with the Russian Federation within the common economic of the CIS is undertaken. It is offered to consider the diversification of mutual trade, investment cooperation, joint projects in the sphere of oil extraction and oil refining, and also cooperation in the field of nanotechnologies as the most perspective and serving the interests of both countries.
