annotation: The estimation procedure of effectiveness of Russian bank system was brought forward in this article. Positive and negative trends of its development are exposed as well. Institutional conditions of effectiveness increase of Russian bank system are argued in the article. Their realization will make it possible to eliminate the contradictions between the effectiveness of certain banks and inefficiency of the bank system. It will also favour the realization of institutional functions of banks.
