Аbstract. At the current stage of social development, the choice of strategic priorities for regional development requires a careful analysis of the factors, the choice and justification of those that can become sources of growth in the level of social and economic development of the region. The increase in the level of socio-economic development, the transition to its new stages and formations, accompanies processes and trends that increase the importance of individual sectors in the socio-economic development of the region.
Such industries can become one of the main factors of the region’s competitiveness, increase of its socio-economic development level, economic specialization in the domestic and international economic space. Among modern trends, which should be noted when choosing the sources of economic growth in the regions can be identified: the creation of conditions for a comfortable life, the desire of society to rationalize the use of natural and recreational resources, increase labor productivity, changes in culture and the value system of the population, increase mobility of the population. In such circumstances, tourism becomes a sector that can become a source of social and economic development of the region.
