Abstract. The article studies the basic economic approaches to the development of business systems in monotowns. The author carries out the analysis of different state support measures aimed at the economic development of monotowns at all authority levels: federal, regional and municipal. The article highlights the organizational, informational and financial measures of ensuring the economic development of urban entities. The basic principles of business systems functioning in monotowns have been formulated from the perspective of classical economic theory. The study reveals a number of current problems of economy state regulation in monotowns. On the basis of multifactor production model the author suggests new approach to the economic development of monotowns by means of business systems self-producing and points out the main integrating condition of business systems self-production in monotowns. The conclusion contains the proposals on the economic development of monotowns in the Volgograd region.
