Abstract. Logistics infrastructure is considered by many domestic and foreign scientists as a necessary basis for sustainable development of a region, the maturity level of which is directly linked to the socio-economic indicators of the country/entity. In a significant number of works, this relationship is presented as a linear multiple regression model. However, the studies consider the influence of logistics infrastructure on one socio-economic indicator and do not take into account its multiplicative effect. The purpose of this article is to establish correlations between social indicators of the subjects of the Southern Federal District and indices of logistics infrastructure. The author conducted a statistical analysis of the data, which showed a significant difference in the activities of land transport of the subjects of the Southern Federal District, as well as in the number of organizations in the financial sector and insurance and the costs of implementing and using digital technologies. Cluster analysis made it possible to segment all subjects of the Southern Federal District into three groups according to the degree of maturity of the logistics infrastructure. To find linear combinations between groups of indicators characterizing the level of social development and logistics infrastructure of the Southern Federal District, the method of canonical correlations was used in the work, which allowed forming two pairs of linear combinations. The correlation coefficients are 0.709 and 0.996. The study showed that the railway transport index has a significant and approximately equal positive impact on social indicators.

Key words: social indicators, regional logistics infrastructure, subjects of the Southern Federal District, heat map of correlations, hierarchical cluster analysis, level of employment maturity, method of canonical correlation.
