Abstract. The analytical review analyzes the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the fuel and energy complex of Russia and provides the main indicators of the industry – energy exports in the pre-sanctions and sanctions periods – 2021, 2022, and 2023. The data is taken from official statistical agencies, as well as authoritative sources of the periodical press with reference to relevant ministries, analytical agencies, and officials. An attempt is made to answer the question of why the anti-Russian sanctions did not have the effect on the economy of Russia expected by the initiators of the sanctions. The conclusion discusses the consequences of the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the fuel and energy sector in Russia and the European energy market.

Key words: sanctions, fuel and energy complex, Russia, EU, energy exports.
