Abstract. The article focuses on the digital transformation of regions as a crucial component of their socioeconomic development. The authors emphasise that building a digital ecosystem allows improving the quality of life of the population and the efficiency of state and municipal governance. The key direction of digital transformation is the creation of digital infrastructure: the introduction of new technologies, increasing the availability of public services in electronic form, etc. The authors focus on the development of digital infrastructure. Special attention is paid to the development of digital literacy in the population through training courses and the creation of various digital services. The Ministry of Digital Development is responsible for the implementation of digital transformation in the Republic of Kalmykia, which performs a wide range of functions: from strategic planning to organising interdepartmental electronic interaction and maintaining registers of information systems. The article discusses the main areas of activity of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Kalmykia, as well as the legal and regulatory framework governing the digital transformation of the region. The authors conclude on the importance of an integrated approach to digitalisation as a key factor in the socioeconomic development of territories.
